Take-home pay calculators

SAUL members pay 6% of their fixed salary into the Scheme. However, the actual cost is less because members pay less tax and National Insurance. The take-home pay calculator is designed to help you get an idea of the actual difference in take-home pay between employees who are SAUL members and those who are not.

The take-home pay calculator, which can only be used for salaries of less than £100,000 per annum, takes account of a single person’s tax allowance only and relates to the tax year 2012/13.

If you have children and are in receipt of child tax credit, working tax credit, and/or other allowances, your take-home pay will be higher than that shown here.

Salary sacrifice arrangements

If you make SAUL contributions through a salary sacrifice arrangement you pay less National Insurance. Please use the separate calculator for members participating in a salary sacrifice arrangement and enter your pre-sacrifice salary.

If you would like to know the exact difference, please ask your Pensions Officer for more information.

Please note also that this program requires Macromedia Flash version 9 or later to function correctly.
